I'm Meditating For Mental Health!

I'm delighted to be participating in Mindfulness Challenge 2019. It's a 4-hour "meditate-athon" to raise money for a great cause — mindfulness programs to help disadvantaged people who suffer from depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

Here’s a startling statistic: 1 in 5 Canadians lives with mental illness. Anyone can find themselves alone, out of work, and unable to get the help they need.

But thanks to The Centre for Mindfulness Studies, help is available.

Mindfulness-based therapy is evidence-based and cost-effective. It can make a real difference, especially when programs are tailored to the needs of marginalized communities. Here's what John shared:

"My first 22 years of life were hell. I left home when I was 13 because my mom drank and was abusive...I love mindfulness. It helps me work towards my dream...Mindfulness goes hand-in-hand to help self healing, self-reliance, and independence from drugs and alcohol."

Francis, a client of 40 Oaks, said:

My father was in the residential school system and was an alcoholic. Mindfulness has truly transformed me. I was just going through life, not really noticing much. Practicing mindfulness has opened both my heart and mind. It made me aware how similar we all are. I can relate to others now more openly. I can walk down the street and make eye contact with other people, which is something I always used to avoid.

There are many more like John and Francis. More than can currently be helped. This is why I'm asking for your support. Please give what you can, within the bounds of what you can afford.

If you plan to support me, please don't put this off. The present moment is the perfect moment to give generously.

Thank you.
