I'm Meditating For Mental Health!

I'm delighted to be participating in Mindfulness Challenge 2017. It's a 4-hour meditate-athon and all money raised goes to a great cause—bringing mindfulness to marginalized people who suffer from depression, anxiety, social isolation, addiction and other mental health issues.

Here’s a startling statistic: 1 in 5 Canadians lives with mental illness. Anyone can find themselves alone, out of work, and unable to get the help they need.

But thanks to The Centre for Mindfulness Studies, help is available. For just $75, an 8-week mindfulness program can be delivered to a disadvantaged person who could really use this help.

Mindfulness-based therapy is evidence-based, cost-effective and drug-free, and provides the additional benefits of mindfulness. Here's what Alice, a client of the Parkdale Activity and Recreation Centre, had to say about its impact:

The mindfulness has helped my anxiety a lot… really changed the way I do things. I used to be a person who would say, I’m gonna beat you up. But mindfulness has helped me to be calm… I don’t scream anymore.
And Shelley, another client of PARC, said:

"I see mindfulness as a way to be less dependent on medications."

There are many more like Alice and Shelley. More than can currently be helped. This is why we're asking for your support. Please help us reach our fundraising goal, within the bounds of what you can afford.

If you plan to support us, please don't put this off. The present moment is the perfect moment to give generously

Thank you.
